SixApart *DID* get it
June 16th, 2004
First I said they didn’t get it, then I took a leap of faith and changed my mind.
Today SixApart proved me wrong on the first count and right on the second.
Their new licenses are reasonable priced, reasonably limited, reasonably sized. They are just right.
This goes to prove that companies can make honest mistakes; and that companies can listen; and that when companies listen, and act on that, they can come up better and stronger.
So Anil, you can sleep tight now. That is, if you can find where to sleep.
January 31st, 2008 09:06 AM I still think they could have charged half those prices and not miss money - rather, they could have made more of it.
January 31st, 2008 09:06 AM I just checked the new licensing squema, and it looks a lot more coherent tan the original one. I must agree that the people at Six Apart made the right move and the customer base should be happy now. Anyway I think I'll be trying the free and open source alternatives that are evolving, and gaining force.
